Riker takes SELECT DOG at the Vizsla Club of America's 2013 National Show in Minnetonka, MN. This is the third consecutive time at the National Show that Riker has earned top recognition and this time he was owner handled! What a great honor!

Riker comes to us from from his breeders Sheila and Mike Wald who run Quail Point Kennels and breed Vizslas under the kennel name DezertFyre. His Sire and Dam were Bred by Jill and Jim Brennan of Jaybren - Tierah Vizslas. Riker has taken the ring by storm and finished his Championship out of the 6-9 month puppy class. All of his points were earned with Major wins (4 of them!) and two of those wins were under Vizsla Breeder judges! He also finished his Grand Championship at 15 months old by defeating stiff competition of a Multiple Best in Show (Canada) Vizsla, a current 2010 top Ten Vizsla, a Multiple Best in Specialty Show Vizsla and a Best in Specialty Show Vizsla. Last we heard he also became the youngest Vizsla to earn a Rally Novice Title at 9 month of age. At the Puget Sound Vizsla Club Specialty 2011, he also earned a HIT (Highest Scoring Obedience dog in Trial) while trialing for his Companion Dog Obedience Title.

Riker earned his Junior Hunt title at 18 months of age but still continues to enjoy working in the field any spare moment he has. Riker has earned multiple Award of Merits at various specialties including the National Vizsla Show in 2011 & 2012 and then in 2013 he upped it on more time and earned and even better placement of SELECT DOG. At the Rocky Mountain Vizsla Club Specialty in Denver following the Vizsla 2011 Nationals show, Riker went on to win his first Best in Specialty Show at 22 months old where he was expertly handled by Graeme Burdon. For the 2011 calendar year, Riker was ranked 13th Vizsla in the Nation for Breed wins with a very limited showing. In February 2012, Riker picked up his second Best in Specialty Show at the Trail's End Vizsla Club of Oregon Specialty in Albany, OR and was ranked by breed wins as the #7 Vizsla in the nation for February 2012. Riker picked up his Bronze level Grand Championship in the fall of 2012. Riker is not being campaigned currently but is continue to work on his agility skills and obedience performances. He does periodically make appearances in the show ring from time to time. Riker's first sired litter was born at the end of June 2012 and produced 5 offspring. Those offspring were evaluated to ALL be show quality by professional puppy evaluator & judge Pat Hastings. Be watching for his offspring to be hitting the rings starting in 2013.

Our immediate plans are to start working on some obedience competitions and start working on fine tuning some agility skills. Riker turned three at the end of November 2012.
